Although this year's 9th Annual Film Festival has come to an end, the unique stories of the filmmakers live on. This year's Film Festival centered around the theme of "Home Away From Home", giving filmmakers from all over the world the opportunity to express what "home" means to them. The festival included young refugee filmmakers in Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps. Refugees who have taken part in FilmAid's Media Arts Training Program participated in the Film Festival, submitting their films on the theme as their final project.

This week we are highlighting a 23 year old refugee filmmaker named Aminah Rwimoh, who directed the original film "Homeland Misery", which premiered at this year's Film Festival. The film is a docudrama about a girl named Semire Masirika, who brutally suffered due to civil war in her country. She finally decides to flee to exile where she faces a lot of hatred and challenges. She later comes to terms with her situation and makes the most out of it.

This amazing docudrama and Aminah's love for editing led her to being one of this year's winners at the Film Festival.
