Sharon Swart

 

Sharon Swart is a journalist and producer. She has covered every aspect of the entertainment industry as a longtime editor for both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. Sharon produced the documentary film Roll With Me, directed by Lisa France and distributed by Ava DuVernay’s Array Releasing and Netflix (2018). She also was a consulting producer on Marina Zenovich’s What Happens in Hollywood (Roku, 2021). After joining FilmAid’s Board of Directors in 2011, Sharon has been actively involved in fundraising, board recruitment and Hollywood outreach for the humanitarian non-profit. She served as Chair of the Nominating Committee and on the Board’s Executive Committee for many years leading up to FilmAid’s acquisition by Internews in 2020. Sharon co-authored the book FilmCraft: Producing (Focal Press, 2013) and edited her father’s book about his life in auto racing, Ed Swart: From Zandvoort to Daytona (Coterie Press, 2021). She began her journalism career in broadcast news, working for ABC News affiliate KGO-TV in San Francisco and at RTL in The Netherlands. She graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in political science and completed postgraduate work in communications at the University of Amsterdam in her native The Netherlands.
