Celebrating 25 Years of Impact Through Storytelling

This year, FilmAid marks 25 years of empowering communities through the transformative power of storytelling. From our first screenings in Kosovo in 1999 to today’s global reach across four continents, our work has grown exponentially.

 Over the years, we’ve stayed true to our belief that stories are power and that film can heal, inspire, and transform lives. Whether supporting Indigenous communities in Colombia, refugee camps in Kenya, or helping communities access tools to share their own truths, we’ve built more than just audiences. We’ve created opportunities for local voices to be heard, local stories to be shared, and local communities to shape their own narratives.

As the world has shifted through technological advances and shared challenges, so have we — adapting from community film screenings using old-school generators and “FilmAid trucks” to pioneering digital platforms. These changes have only strengthened our ability to connect communities through storytelling.
