Join us at our annual benefit on Wednesday, October 27th at 6p in a heated, open-air space at the Standard Hotel on the High Line in New York City. We are thrilled to be gathering in person, celebrating FilmAid and presenting awards to three individuals whose work and life exemplify the power of storytelling.
Join us in honoring the exceptional work of our 2021 awardees:
The Richard C. Holbrooke Award for Humanitarian Service
Sahraa Karimi, Afghan filmmaker, chairperson of the Afghan
Film Organization and activist for women, children, artists and
filmmakers in Afghanistan.
Christopher Dickey Award for Journalism Excellence
Ian Urbina, award winning former NYT journalist who now
runs The Outlaw Ocean Project, a non-profit news organization
focused on human rights and environmental crimes at sea
globally.
FilmAid Student Award
Nhial Gatriek Deng, a 22-year-old South Sudanese refugee,
writer, and community activist. He is a 2020 graduate of the
FilmAid Media Training Program in Kakuma and currently a
freshman at Huron University College in Canada.

The event will be in accordance on New York City COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions: As of August 17, people 12 and older are required to show proof of at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
