Winternewsletter 2006
In this newsletter, you will read of some of the ways that FilmAid is projecting hope and changing lives through the power of film. The generous support of FilmAid’s growing circle of friends is allowing us to reach more men, women, and children than ever before with enriching and entertaining messages that are helping to heal individuals and rebuild communities.
From providing young people with the tools and practical experience to share their stories through video to our work with community leaders to deliver appropriate and effective messages about HIV/AIDS prevention, FilmAid has become an integral part of the support services within the refugee camps where we work. FilmAid’s unique programming is designed and implemented in partnership with the refugee communities we serve. In a place where, year after year, people must rely on help from others for the essentials, FilmAid’s programs help empower refugees to speak out, to identify and address their own needs and to imagine a better future.
I hope as you read this newsletter you will appreciate the impact of your commitment to people the world has abandoned. In the words of Michael Ayuen Agok, a refugee in Kenya’s Kakuma camp, “FilmAid gives hope to those who lost it.”
Thank you for allowing us to be a hopeful presence for those who need it most.
